What should I expect in my initial Gynaecology consultation?

You will be greeted by our friendly staff on arrival. You will need to bring your referral, medicare and health fund card and update your details with us.
Dr Mahadik will discuss your health issues with a detailed history (including understanding of the assessment that tests that your GP may have done for you so far) and examination. This may include a vaginal examination with use of a speculum.
She will then discuss need for further tests and options for treatment for your condition.

When should I see Dr Mahadik for pregnancy care?

You should see Dr Mahadik around 10-11 weeks, after you have had an early dating ultrasound which confirms a normally advancing early pregnancy. Dr Mahadik will discuss and offer a unique plan for management of your pregnancy keeping your preferences in mind.

How often will I see Dr Mahadik?

Your initial visits for the first 28 weeks will be every 4 weeks. At each visit, you will have a detailed assessment of your and your baby’s health and well-being. This will include an ultrasound during each visit along with checking your weight, blood pressure and assessment of any concerns, pregnancy symptoms and your perception of your baby’s movements. Visits after 28 weeks will be every 2 weeks.

What do I bring with me for my pregnancy checkup’s?

You will be provided with a pregnancy card which will have all the details of your pregnancy including results of all your tests. Dr Mahadik will update it every visit. It will have important telephone numbers for you in case of an emergency. This will usually be the hospital birth suite.

What do I do in case of an emergency?

Please contact the hospital birth suite which is staffed by qualified midwives 24 x 7. They are able to contact Dr Mahadik and give you the right advice.
